Mr. Eyre

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what was the net rate of interest paid by the Birmingham Corporation on money borrowed from the Government in 1969–70 to finance its housebuilding programmes of 1965–66 and 1966–67, respectively.

Mr. Freeson:

Birmingham Corporation did not borrow from the Public Works Loans Board in 1969 for expenditure on houses completed in 1965–66 and 1966–67.
