HC Deb 26 March 1970 vol 798 cc471-2W
Mr. Snow

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether, in view of the overcrowding developing at the Cardinal Griffin School, Cannock, and the inability of the Staffordshire Local Education Authority to include the necessary building extensions need to convert this school into a comprehensive unit in the 1970–71 preliminary list of that authority, and the consequential anxiety to parents in the area, he will take steps to rectify this situation.

Mr. Edward Short

I expect the Staffordshire Local Education Authority to submit shortly a proposal for the extention of this school in the 1972–73 starts programme. In considering the proposal I will take into account the need for extra places at the school and the effects on it of reorganisation on comprehensive lines. I hope to announce in the summer a new preliminary list from which the starts programme for 1972–73 will be drawn.
