asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many primary classes in the London Borough of Bexley had more than 40 pupils in January, 1969; what percentage that was of the total; and what are the latest available figures.

In January, 1969, 43 classes in primary schools maintained by Bexley local education authority had more than 40 pupils; this was 7.2 per cent. of the total. By January, 1970, the number of such classes had been reduced to 33, 5.3 per cent. of the total.
