HC Deb 24 March 1970 vol 798 cc324-5W
52. Mr. Howarth

asked the Minister of Transport what is the cost per mile to install central reservation crash barriers on the M6 as compared with the Lancashire/Yorkshire motorway which is still under construction; and whether he has yet completed his review of the criteria governing the installation of these barriers on motorways.

Mr. Bob Brown

Crash barriers are being installed on the complex Worsley Interchange at about £6 a yard for single beam. On straightforward lengths of motorways double beam barriers would cost about £4 a yard. We will complete the review of the criteria for installing barriers shortly.
