HC Deb 24 March 1970 vol 798 c325W
53. Mr. Henig

asked the Minister of Transport what plans he has to avoid future dislocation to the British transport system caused by moderate falls of snow.

Mr. Bob Brown

Our standing winter arrangements for clearing motorways and trunk roads generally work well. Very heavy snow, such as we have had recently, and bad driving and abandoned vehicles, inevitably cause some temporary dislocation. We give local highway authorities advice and lend equipment to help them deal with their own roads. The British Railways Board keep their arrangements for dealing with snow and ice under continuous review.
