HC Deb 19 March 1970 vol 798 c187W
Mrs. Ewing

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what representations he has received concerning the fact that of over 50 members on the four boards of the Science Research Council two of those appointed were based in Scotland; and what reply he has sent.

Mr. Ross

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science and I have had correspondence with our hon. Friend the Member for Rutherglen (Mr. Gregor Mackenzie) about Scottish representation on the Science Research Council and I have assured him that all concerned are much alive to the need to take appropriate account of Scottish interests in questions of this kind; there are, in fact, now four Scottish academic members among the members of the council and its boards.
