§ Mr. Tugendhat
asked the Chancellor of the Excheqner when he intends to terminate the import deposit levy.

§ Mr. Maurice Macmillan
The rate of import deposit will be reduced from the present level of 30 per cent. to 20 per cent. with effect from 1st September, in pursuance of an Order which will be laid before the House very shortly. The import deposit scheme will terminate on 4th December, on the expiry of the Customs (Import Deposits) Act.
