§ Mr. Gwynoro Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will give approximate respective starting dates for the major road schemes in the constituency of Carmarthen which had already been placed in the preparation pool before 18th June.
§ Mr. Peter ThomasThe schemes are:
A48 Crosshands and Drefach By-passes.
A48/A40 Carmarthen Southern By-pass.
A40 Carmarthen Eastern By-pass.
A40 Dualling from Carmarthen to St. Clears.
A40 St. Clears By-pass.
It is not possible to forecast starting dates for these schemes since this will depend among other things on the time needed to complete the statutory processes and to acquire land. It is however the Government's intention to complete a dual carriageway east-west road through South Wales to St. Clears as quickly as possible.
