HC Deb 09 July 1970 vol 803 c97W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Attorney-General whether he will introduce legislation to prevent holders of recorderships from sitting in the House of Commons.

The Attorney-General

No. The holder of a recordership is already disqualified, by the House of Commons Disqualification Act, 1957, for membership of the House of Commons if his constituency comprises the whole or part of the city or borough for which he is appointed.
