HC Deb 19 January 1970 vol 794 c43W
Mr. Carol Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what are the principles upon which local education authority grants for students at colleges of education are based; and to what extent in fixing the level of such grants consideration is given to the level of grants payable under schemes for training for the police service.

Mr. Edward Short

The principles governing grant for courses of initial training for teaching, as for first degree and comparable courses, derive from the recommendations in the Report of the Anderson Committee on Grants to Students, 1960. Serving teachers seconded for substantial periods of fulltime further training receive full salary.

The answer to the second part of the question is "Not at all".
