HC Deb 09 February 1970 vol 795 cc246-7W
71. Mr. Gardner

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the number of places for severely sub-normal children available in training centres in Nottinghamshire; and what is the estimated number of children in need of such facilities in the county.

Dr. John Dunwoody

There is no separate allocation of places to severely sub-normal children in Junior Training Centres in Nottinghamshire: a total of 338 places are available for the subnormal and severely sub-normal. Thirty-three mentally handicapped children are awaiting places, including 24 who require special care facilities because of severe physical and mental handicaps. Twenty-five new special care places will become available this April.
