HC Deb 09 February 1970 vol 795 c247W
74. Sir A. V. Harvey

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps are being taken to provide the additional beds urgently needed at the Congleton War Memorial Hospital.

Dr. John Dunwoody

The Hospital Building Programme (Cmnd. 3000) envisaged that the needs of the Macclesfield area, which includes Congleton, would be met by the provision of a district general hospital at Macclesfield. Preliminary planning of this project has commenced. Additional beds at Congleton War Memorial Hospital do not form part of the Manchester Regional Hospital Board's present plans for the area.
