HC Deb 09 February 1970 vol 795 c246W
70. Mr. Snow

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he is satisfied with the state of readiness of ambulances based on Lichfield and other centres, and in particular as to the promptness with which ambulances attended a serious accident to a lorry driver on the A.5 at Weeford, Staffordshire, recently; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Crossman

At the accident to which I think my hon. Friend refers, the ambulance arrived within nine minutes of being called. The Tamworth station is closed from midnight to 8 a.m. and on Sundays, but the County Council consider that during those hours an adequate service is provided by the continuously manned stations at Lichfield and Aldridge.
