HC Deb 09 February 1970 vol 795 cc267-8W
Mr. Kirk

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will commission studies into the extent to which the cost of house construction, has increased because the standards now being required by the National House-Builders' Registration Council are increasingly high.

Mr. Freeson

In fixing the higher standards which came into force during 1969 the National House-Builders' Registration Council had close regard to their effect on house costs. They estimated that the new standards might add between £50 and £150 to the cost of a house, depending on the type. I do not think further studies are required.
