HC Deb 09 February 1970 vol 795 c268W
Mr. Prior

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what instructions have been given by him to his Department's representatives at the inquiry into the proposed realisation of a preservation order in respect of 15, Quay Street, once the home of Sir William Hooker, at Halesworth, Suffolk.

Mr. Skeffington

The inquiry, which was held on 5th February, is into an appeal against the decision of East Suffolk County Council to refuse listed building consent on an application under Part V of the Town and Country Planning Act. 1968, to demolish this building.

Since my right hon. Friend is not a party to the application, there were no representatives of the Minister as counsel or witnesses at the inquiry. The duty of the Inspector holding the inquiry was to hear the evidence and present a report to my right hon. Friend.
