HC Deb 10 December 1970 vol 808 cc173-4W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proposals he has for amending the law in the light of the recent decision of the House of Lords in the case of Singette and others v. Martin.

Mr. Maudling

I have received representations from charitable and sporting organisations which benefit from schemes of the kind which have now been ruled to be unlawful. I recognise the anxieties of such organisations at the loss of a substantial source of income and I am considering as a matter of urgency how far the law should be changed to enable organisations which are not run for private gain to benefit from income from these or similiar sources subject to suitable safeguards.
