§ Mr. Laneasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what research policy is being followed by the Committee on Race Relations under Professor Little's Chairmanship; and what are to be the criteria for evaluating projects initiated or recommended by the Committee.
§ Mr. SharplesThe Advisory Committee's aim is to survey existing and prospective research and to advise my right hon. Friend about those areas and topics on which additional research, by whatever body is appropriate in the circumstances of each case, could be of practical help in the race relations aspects of public policy.
§ Mr. Laneasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what research has been carried out by his Race Relations Research Committee; what evaluation studies have been undertaken or are being considered; and if any research is contemplated by the Committee in association with the Department of Education and Science into the home-school environment.
§ Mr. SharplesThis Committee exists to advise my right hon. Friend on the directions in which it considers research is desirable rather than to carry out research projects itself.
