HC Deb 01 December 1970 vol 807 c314W
36. Mr. Fry

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will encourage for residents of elderly persons welfare homes the provision of medical treatment which will remove the need for them to be moved into hospital for minor ailments.

Mr. Alison

The care provided for elderly people in local authority residential homes is intended to be of the kind they would receive from relatives in their own homes with the help and advice of the general practitioner and the home nurse, and should be adequate for minor ailments.
