HC Deb 29 April 1970 vol 800 c333W
Mr. Russell Johnston

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the current estimate of the cost of a bridge from Kyle of Lochalsh to Kyleakin, Isle of Skye.

Mr. Ross:

I have made no recent estimate of the cost of such a bridge.

Mr. Russell Johnston

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will publish a table giving all expenditure, including recent estimated expenditure, connected with the operation of the ferry across the Kyle of Lochalsh to Skye from 1960 to the present, including jetties, boats, associated buildings, wages and administration costs; and what was the income derived from the operation of the ferry during the same period.

Mr. Ross:

It is the general practice not to give information about the profitability of services such as this, in view of the need to preserve commercial confidentiality.
