HC Deb 20 April 1970 vol 800 c47W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what proposals he has for the building, by his Department or other appropriate authority, of new health centres in Ayrshire;

(2) how many health centres there are in Ayrshire; and if he will name their location.

Mr. Ross:

There are no health centres at present in operation in Ayrshire but two centres, which are being provided by the local health authority under delegated powers, are under construction at Symington and Dundonald. Discussions are being held with the statutory bodies concerned to determine the need for health centres in the designated area of Irvine New Town.

Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many health centres are planned for construction in Scotland from now until 1975.

Mr. Ross:

The health centre programme in Scotland cannot be related to a particular forward date. In addition to 16 health centres now operating in Scotland and nine under construction, plans for 23 have been approved, 27 have reached the detailed planning stage and 29 other proposals are under consideration.
