§ 12. Sir J. Langford-Holtasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is aware that the pesticide and antibiotic regulations in the United Kingdom increase costs to the United Kingdom food producers; and whether he will therefore stop food imports from countries where similar regulations do not impose the same burdens.
§ Mr. Cledwyn HughesNo. It has never been Government policy to limit imports to those from countries whose production costs are in all ways similar to our own. As to antibiotics, I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to the hon. Member for North Angus and Mearns (Mr. Buchanan-Smith) on 10th December last.—[Vol. 793, c. 407.]
