HC Deb 03 November 1969 vol 790 c53W
Commander Pursey

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) what proposals the Yorkshire Ouse and Hull River Authority has made to him for the installation of flood gates at the mouth of the River Hull; and what consideration his Department has given to these proposals;

(2) what is the approximate cost of the proposed flood gates for the mouth of the River Hull; how and by whom this cost is to be met ; and what time will be required to produce and install these flood gates.

Mr. John Mackie

This is primarily a matter for the Yorkshire Ouse and Hull River Authority which is, I understand, in consultation with the Hull Corporation. No proposals have yet been put to my right hon. Friend by the River Authority but if it does so I am prepared to consider whether any such project can be given grant aid, provided it is technically and economically sound.
