HC Deb 04 March 1969 vol 779 c57W
11. Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what percentage of the National Income was taken in taxation both direct and indirect in 1950–51 and 1964–65; and what he estimates the percentage will be for 1968–69.

Mr. Diamond

Figures of National Income, which is some 20 per cent. less than Gross National Product, are only available on a calendar year basis. For 1950 the percentage was 35.9, for 1964 29.3 and for 1967 35.5. Figures for 1968 are not yet available.
