HC Deb 26 February 1969 vol 778 c313W
Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

asked the President of the Board of Trade what plans he has to promote the manufacture of calcium carbide in the United Kingdom as was done during the war; and if he will forgo import deposits on it until supplies are obtainable here.

Mr. Dell

I have no present plans to promote the manufacture of calcium carbide nor have any been put to me by industry. On the second part of the Question, I would refer the hon. Member to the Answer given by the Financial Secretary to the Treasury to the other Question he has asked today.
