HC Deb 21 February 1969 vol 778 c174W
Mr. Biffen

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity if she is yet in a position to make a statement on the negotiation between shipping-off gangs, who struck in November, 1968, at the Royal Group of Docks, and the Port of London Authority; on what date she was informed of the gangs pay and conditions claim; and if she has made a provisional estimate of the expected increase in earnings they imply.

Mr. Harold Walker

I understand that negotiations on the claim by these gangs of which my Department was first informed on 7th November, 1968, have not yet been concluded. As I indicated in my reply to the hon. Member's previous Question on 12th November, 1968, the Port of London Authority estimates that the claim, if conceded, would increase the average total earnings of the men concerned by between six and seven per cent.—[Vol. 773, c. 86.]
