HC Deb 14 February 1969 vol 777 c408W
Mr. Whitaker

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement about the cargo of Rhodesian tobacco delivered to Antwerp last week by the s.s. "Mokana"; and what steps he is proposing at the United Nations to make sanctions more effective.

Mr. Foley

Under paragraph 21 of Security Council Resolution 253, (1968) Her Majesty's Government are under an obligation to report suspected breaches of sanctions to the Security Council Committee established in pursuance of that Resolution. Such reports are confidential until the Committee itself reports to the President of the Security Council. As regards the second part of the Question, I have nothing to add to the answer I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Billericay (Mr. Moonman) on 10th February.—[Vol. 777, c. 867–8.]
