HC Deb 04 December 1969 vol 792 c337W
Mr. Scott

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many recorded stoppages due to official strikes, excluding mining and quarrying, took place during the 12 months to the end of October, 1969.

Mr. Harold Walker

Stoppages known to have been official numbered 72 out of a provisional total of 2,707 stoppages of work due to industrial disputes, other than in mining and quarrying, which began in the 12 months ended 31st October, 1969. It is not known whether all the remainder were unofficial, but the great majority would have fallen within this category.
