HC Deb 04 December 1969 vol 792 cc335-7W
Mr. Kenneth Baker

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many surveys of a statistical nature are at present being made, or have been commissioned by her Department; what subjects are being covered; when the surveys began; and when a report is expected.

Mr. Dell

Regular monthly, six-monthly and annual surveys are carried out to collect statistics of employment, earnings, hours of work, retail prices and family expenditure. The results are published each month in the Employment and Productivity Gazette and in the annual reports on the Family Expenditure Survey. In addition, the following surveys are at present in progress.

A small pilot survey is also being carried out in a few areas to test alternative methods of collecting employment statistics after national insurance cards are abolished.
