§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department on how many occasions, for the longest convenient stated period until 1st September, 1969, the Metropolitan Police have, on giving notice of intended prosecution under the Road Traffic Acts, also issued a warning that, on conviction, details of one absolute discharge will be submitted against the accused; and under what statutory authority an absolute discharge is used against a person to obtain a severer penalty on a subsequent occasion for a different offence.
§ Mr. Elystan MorganIt is not the practice of the Metropolitan Police to send a list of previous convictions with a notice of intended prosecution. My hon. Friend will not expect me to comment on the second part of his Question if, as I understand, he is concerned about a case that issub judice.
