§ Dame Joan Vickersasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what consideration he has given to Resolution 39 on the Western European Union crisis, adopted by the Assembly of Western European Union on 21st February, 1969; and what action he proposes to take.
§ Mr. MulleyHer Majesty's Government are in full agreement with the spirit underlying this resolution. The Western European Union Council is pursuing its consultations on questions of foreign policy with fruitful results. My right hon. and noble Friend the Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Lord Chalfont, is now the United Kingdom's Permanent Representative. This is an indication of the importance which Her Majesty's Government attach to this process of consultation. We continue to hope that the French Government will resume their full participation. We believe they have a valuable part to play.
