HC Deb 24 April 1969 vol 782 cc111-2W
53. Mr. Crouch

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware of the danger to small children from bath sponges and toys made from synthetic foam; and, in view of the findings of the coroner's court in respect of the death in Canterbury last week of Stephen Hodgman, aged 10 months, if he will take steps to require that such articles may not be sold without a label warning prospective buyers of the dangers involved.

Mr. Merlyn Rees

I learned with regret of this child's tragic death, but I am doubtful whether a warning label of the kind suggested would have much practical value.
