§ Mr. Buchanan-Smithasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the estimated yield from Scotland in a full year of the increase in road fuel duty and of the proposed increase in Selective Employment Tax.
§ Mr. TaverneIt is estimated that the gross yield for Selective Employment Tax in Scotland in 1968–69 was about £125 million. A figure for the net yield for Scotland in 1968–69 cannot be given but it is estimated that the net yield from the tax-bearing sector in Scotland in a full year at the current rates would be about £45.5 million and the additional cost of the increased rates will be about £12.5 million. Manufacturers in Scotland are receiving nearly £50 million a year in Regional Employment Premiums and Selective Employment Tax additional payments.
The increase in hydrocarbon oils duty will yield about £3½ million in a full year.
