HC Deb 21 April 1969 vol 782 cc23-4W
Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what estimate he has made of the average cost to a motorist in Scotland in a full year of the increase in road fuel duty.

Mr. Harold Lever

Statistics of the average costs of motorists in Scotland are not available. But as an illustrative example, for a mileage of 8,000 a year and a petrol consumption of 30 m.p.g., the average extra yield of the hydrocarbon oil duty would be about £2 11s. in a full year.
