HC Deb 21 April 1969 vol 782 c23W
Miss Quennell

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the impact on the balance of payments of the import from France of electric current for the year 1967–68.

Mr. Harold Lever

Imports of electricity from France in the financial year 1967–68 totalled £773,000. Exports to France totalled £11,000. The net cost of this trade to the balance of payments was therefore approximately three-quarters of a million pounds.
