HC Deb 17 April 1969 vol 781 c284W
36. Mr. David Steel

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many applications he has received, and how many granted, for relaxation on hardship or compassionate grounds of his Immigration Regulations 26(c) and 26(f).

Mr. Merlyn Rees

I understand that the hon. Member is referring to male Commonwealth citizens seeking admission as husbands or fiances under the new rules which my right hon. Friend announced on 30th January. The only available information is that 21 men were admitted in February and 23 in March for marriage to women in this country.
