§ 74. Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will cause an investigation to be made into the number of occasions that his Department have been approached by Intertel (VTR Services) Limited concerning investment grants; why there has been delay in resolving this issue; why his Department's undertakings to the 69W hon. Member for West Ham, North have not been kept; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. DellI have had this case fully investigated and accept that the firm entered into commitments to purchase equipment as the result of misleading advice given by the Board of Trade in May, 1967, that grant would be paid. This was corrected in September, 1967, but I am prepared to pay grant on expenditure on such commitments entered into between these dates.
