§ 47 and 48. Mr. Peter Millsasked the Minister of Transport (1) on what grounds he made his decision not to subsidise the line from Exeter to Okehampton; and if he will make a statement;
(2) how he arrived at the figure of £150,000 a year to keep open the line from Exeter to Okehampton.
§ Mr. CarmichaelThe decision to refuse grant was made in the light of the cost 13W and the usage of the service. The tentative conclusion was that a grant would not represent value for money.
The calculation of the annual grant required was based on estimated total costs of almost £170,000 and estimated earnings of £20,000.
