HC Deb 15 November 1967 vol 754 cc118-9W
Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

asked the Minister of Transport what additional measures she is taking, by way of improved lighting and signalling and otherwise, to reduce the high accident figures in foggy conditions.

Mr. Carmichael

The flashing amber signals provided on all motorways to warn drivers to travel at less than 30 m.p.h. because of fog or other dangers will be progressively replaced by remotely controlled signals to indicate maximum advisory speeds under these conditions. Such signals on the Severn Bridge and its approaches will be in operation shortly. The lighting of trunk roads is also being improved.
