Mrs. Lena Jegerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the total cost to this country to date of the Greek Loan Act, 1898; what discussions he has had with the present Greek Government on this subject; and whether he will seek to amend the terms of the Act guaranteeing the loan in view of changed circumstances since the passing of the Act.
190Wchargeable depend on the circumstances of individual cases; but the following are examples of the position in specimen circumstances:

Discussions with the Greek Government on all outstanding debts have been taking place over the last two years; we are at present awaiting a reply to an aidememoire presented to the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier this year. I do not propose to seek to amend the terms of the Act of 1898, which constitutes an obligation of Her Majesty's Government to the bondholders.
