HC Deb 09 May 1967 vol 746 c190W
Sir G. Nabarro

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the anticipated yield, respectively, for earned and unearned income in each of the bands of Surtax during 1967–68; the total respective yields from earned and unearned incomes for Surtax; and the total Surtax yield anticipated in 1967–68.

Mr. MacDermot

The estimated surtax yield in 1967–68 is £250 million as shown in the Financial Statement. I cannot answer the first two parts of the Question since surtax is charged on total income and not on earned and unearned income separately; nor are useful figures available of the total Surtax yield split between the Surtax bands.
