HC Deb 09 May 1967 vol 746 c189W
55. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer to what extent Great Britain's entry into the Common Market will affect taxation in respect of personal incomes, company and corporation taxes, Purchase Tax, and sales and added values taxes; and whether he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table giving the present differences in these taxes between Great Britain and the countries of the European Economic Community and the European Free Trade Association.

Mr. Diamond

On the first part of the Question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the Financial Secretary's speech in the Second Reading debate on the Finance Bill on 2nd May. The information asked for in the second part of the Question is too extensive to put into a table in the OFFICIAL REPORT, but a useful account is given in a 300 page publication by the C.B.I. entitled Taxation in Western Europe, 1966.—[Vol. 746, c. 442–4.]
