§ Mr. Roebuckasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to what extent the economies of Great Britain and New Zealand are complementary as far as dairy produce is concerned; and if he will make a statement.
107W
§ Mr. PeartAll the liquid milk and almost all the fresh cream consumed in the United Kingdom is home produced. The United Kingdom is a net exporter of condensed milk but for other dairy products relies mainly on imports. New Zealand is our largest overseas supplier of dairy products, meeting about 35 per cent. of our requirement of butter, 28 per cent. of our cheese and 20 per cent. of our skim powder.
