HC Deb 04 May 1967 vol 746 c106W
Mr. Roebuck

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the average retail price per pound of butter sold in the United Kingdom in 1966; and how this compares with the price of butter sold in the Common Market countries during 1966.

Mr. Peart

Precise comparisons of retail prices between countries are not possible. The following prices, though not allowing for differences in quality, etc., do however give some indication of relative price levels.

Price per lb. of butter, 1966
s. d.
U.K 3 6
Belgium 7 3
France 6 7
Federal Republic of Germany 6 4
Italy 7 4
Netherlands 5 1

Mr. Roebuck

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what percentage of New Zealand's butter exports were bought by the United Kingdom in 1966.

Mr. Peart

90 per cent. from 1st July, 1965, to 30th June, 1966, the latest twelvemonth period for which figures of New Zealand's total butter exports are available.
