HC Deb 15 February 1967 vol 741 cc104-5W
74. Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many local government employees there are in Scotland who have been denied increases in salary; how many representations he has received on this matter; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ross

About 20,000 administrative, professional, technical and clerical workers employed in local government in Scotland have had a proposed pay increase deferred until, at earliest, 1st July, 1967. The number of representations I have so far received on this matter is 137. I have nothing further to add at present to what was said in reply to the hon. Members for Dumfries (Mr. Monro) and Fife, East (Sir J. Gilmour) on 2nd February.—[Vol. 740, c. 159–60.]
