Q23. Mr. Rankin

asked the Prime Minister if he will publish in tabular form the functions and responsibilities of the Minister of Aviation which have been transferred to the President of the Board of Trade and those which have been taken over by the Minister of Technology.

Yes. The information is as follows:

Functions transferred to Board of Trade Civil Aviation functions, including:
(S.I. 1966, Nos. 741 and 1015) (a) civil airports policy
(b) the national air traffic control organisation (jointly with Ministry of Defence)
(c) air safety and accident investigation
(d) international regulation of civil aviation and negotiation of traffic rights
(e) functions in relation to the air corporations
(f) air transport licensing
Functions transferred to Ministry of Technology All other functions of the Ministry of Aviation, including:
(Ministry of Aviation (Dissolution) Order 1967–S.I. 1967, No. 155: coming into operation on 15th February 1967) Research, development and procurement relating to aircraft, guided weapons and electronic equipment for both military and civil purposes
