HC Deb 21 December 1967 vol 756 cc479-80W
45. Mr. Carlisle

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware of the shortage of places in remand homes for girls in the North-West of England; and what action he proposes to take.

Mr. Taverne:

The provision of remand homes is the responsibility of county and county borough councils. Those in the North-West are meeting shortly to discuss whether there is a need for more places in the area and if so how it should be met, and my right hon. Friend will be glad to consider any proposals they put to him.
