asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what further expenditure on road improvements between the Fort William Pulp Mill and the supplying woodlands is necessary to reduce the transport cost factor to the minimum.

The programme of improvements costing£1.7 million, accepted by Scottish Pulp (Development) Ltd. as meeting its requirements for transporting in economic loads timber from Forestry Commission forests, is nearing completion.
