asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what preliminary arrangements the United Nations is making for a plebiscite in Irian.

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps are being taken by the United Nations to arrange the holding of a plebiscite in West Irian, in accordance with the agreement of 1962 to which the United Nations was a party.

I am informed by the Secretary-General of the United Nations that discussions about West Irian are at present proceeding between himself and the Indonesian Government.
