Cooper-Keyasked the Minister of Transport whether she is aware of the hardship to the inhabitants and the damage to the local economy which would follow the closure of railway services 542W south of Tunbridge Wells; and what proposals she has received from the Railways Board regarding these services.
§ Mr. John MorrisThe Board have asked for my right hon. Friend's permission to publish their proposals for the withdrawal of passenger services on the Lewes-Crowborough-Hurst Green and the Eridge-Tonbridge lines. She is considering whether the proposals are acceptable for publication under the Transport Act, 1962.
If publication is allowed, and objections to the closures are lodged, she will receive an assessment of the hardship which might arise in the statutory reports from the T.U.C.C.
No proposals for any other line in the area referred to have been received.
