HC Deb 21 July 1966 vol 732 c149W
Mr. Hobden

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why an order for 70 cash registers was given by Her Majesty's Stationery Office to a firm whose tender showed that the price quoted was 50 per cent. above that quoted by a Brighton firm, whose name has been supplied to him.

Mr. MacDermot

Competitive tenders were obtained and the order was placed for the cheapest machine which complied adequately with the specification.
